David Dinkins, former New York City mayor was admitted to NewYork-Presbyterian hospital on Wednesday after experiencing difficulty breathing, according to his law partner and advisor Peter Johnson. However, after a phone conversation with Dinkins on Thursday, Johnson mentioned he was sounding much better.
According to Johnson, Dinkins keeps a “break neck” schedule that includes teaching at Columbia University and charitable work. This week Dinkins hosted an event for Democratic Mayoral candidate Bill de Blasio before falling ill.
Dinkins served as the first black mayor of New York City for one term from 1990-1993.
