Sadly, last night was the Obamas’ final White House State Dinner. While the event was bittersweet, everyone in attendance was in high spirits, ready for an evening with America’s First Family.
Chance the Rapper and Frank Ocean were both in attendance and for the special occasion they brought the people who helped them make it all possible: their parents.
“Thanks Dad for raising me right. Look at us all fancy for the White House. I ain’t even wearing a hat tonight #BlackBoyJoy,” Chance tweeted. The rapper, who’s visited the White House before and is beloved by the Obamas, will also be making another appearance in December for the annual National Christmas Tree Lighting. Chance’s dad, Ken Williams-Bennett, also served as an aide to former Chicago mayor Harold Washington and worked for Obama during his time as senator.

Ocean’s date was his mom, Katonya Breaux, a businesswoman who recently launched her own skincare brand. She tweeted, “I am so blessed to have a son that includes me in his once in a lifetime events!!! I just hugged our First Lady!!!! #statedinner.” Frank also proved that he’s a true boss by rolling up to the White House in checkered Vans.
The evening may have been bittersweet, but it was definitely one to remember. The next president is going to have a hard time planning State Dinners as lit as this.
