As the custody battle rages on between Halle Berry and her ex, Gabriel Aubry, there are new concerns being brought up in court. TMZ is reporting that Aubry and his lawyers are worried the actress could suffer the same fate as the late Princess Diana.
To combat the position, Berry’s attorneys called on multiple French lawyers to testify that judges don’t take paparazzi stalking and terrorizing lightly. French law states that photographers are prohibited from taking celebrity’s photos, even in public, if they request to be left alone. Violators can be sued and or prosecuted if they harass anyone.
In an effort to win the judge over, Berry called on friend and fellow actress Selma Hayek last week, who wrote a declaration describing how her current life in France with billionaire husband Francois-Henri Pinault is better because of stiff paparazzi laws.
It’s the latest update in what seems to be a never-ending battle between the former lovers. Berry appears to be hell bent on moving to France with fiancé Olivier Martinez, who proposed this spring. Since then, she’s been working through the courts to get permission to take her family overseas, where she claims she’ll be safer and protected under stricter laws.
All of this comes to light as Richard Franco, the man convicted of stalking Berry is out of jail, and Robert Hoskins, who allegedly threatened to cut Berry’s throat, escaped from a mental institution in February. Thankfully, he was found and returned soon afterwards.
The judge, who has yet to make a ruling, will also take into consideration a child custody report that recommends Nahla should not be separated from her father. There’s no word on when a possible ruling will be announced.
