Malik (Hosea Chanchez) shares a sweet kiss with his new bride, Robin Givens, who plays herself on the show.
“The set was beautiful,” Chanchez says. “It really felt like a wedding reception. Me and Robin stayed in character the whole time, so we really had the experience of two people on the happiest day of their life.”
The newlyweds enjoy their first dance.
“I definitely want to get married, but not anytime soon,” Chanchez says. “I would not want to spend the rest of my life by myself and when you find the woman you want to spend the rest of your life with, you solidify it. I’m the type of guy who wants everyone to know ‘it’s mine.’ ”
Malik shares a special moment with mom Tasha (Wendy Raquel Robinson), after she threatened not to attend the reception.
“She reminded me so much of my real mom, because my mom had me at a young age,” Chanchez says of Robinson. “Tasha and Malik are pretty much brother and sister. They are more road dogs. It’s more of a friendship than a parental relationship and that’s how me and my mom are.”
Jason (Coby Bell) and wife Kelly (Brittany Daniel) discuss mending their damaged relationship.
Tasha mingles with the two leading men in her life, son Malik and boyfriend Rick Fox, who plays himself on the show.
“Throughout the show and working with Wendy, I’ve learned at the end of the day, she is still your mom,” Chanchez says of what the show taught him about his own mom.
Melanie (Tia Mowry) and boyfriend Derwin (Pooch Hall) greet Tisha Campbell-Martin and Duane Martin, who play themselves at the reception.
“Duane is one of the funniest people on the planet,” Chanchez says. “Everything you thing he is on TV, he is exactly who he is in person. He was just telling jokes and in character the whole night. I even told him, ‘This is my reception— calm down.’ ”
Melanie and Derwin are excited to have their relationship back on track. The fact that he’s having a baby with another woman can’t block their joy.
Robin Givens stars as herself on new episodes of “The Game” and marries the show’s star NFL quarterback Malik, played by Hosea Chanchez.
“When I found out Robin and I were going to be working together, I was really excited,” he says. “She was one of my favorite actresses growing up.”
Malik gives his new wife a kiss.
“She is the sweetest person on the planet and is soft spoken,” Chanchez says of Givens.
Robin Givens puckers up for a peck from new husband Malik.
“She was nothing like I thought she was,” Chanchez says of working with Givens. “Not that I thought she was bad, it was just a whole other layer to her that made her so much more interesting.”
The on-screen couple discuss their relationship over dinner and drinks.
Robin Givens plays up her image as snappy and direct.
“Most people think she is an extrovert and probably think she is snappy and boisterous,” Chanchez says. “And she’s absolutely nothing like that.”
