We can always count on at least one awkward moment before an awards show begins, and last night was no exception.
Do Better! Beauty Website Mistakes Whoopi Goldberg For Oprah Winfrey at The Oscars
During the the Academy Awards pre-show, as celebrities arrived and walked the red carpet, Twitter users blasted out their best tweets about everything from outfits to shock over who managed to snag invites. But things really got messy when beauty company Total Beauty tried to comment on Whoopi Goldberg’s unexpected shoulder tattoo:
“We had no idea @Oprah was #tatted, and we love it. #Oscars”
Rightfully, the company immediately received backlash. Their mentions were flooded with angry fans and disappointed Twitter users, but the best response came from Oprah and Gayle King. The besties took to Instagram with a photo of Oprah reacting to the tweet, captioned:
“@Oprah & favorite daughter watching #Oscars & seeing @totalbeautyeditors snafu! We all love @whoopigoldberg but we don’t all look alike Jeeeze!”

Total Beauty eventually took down the tweet and issued an apology along with a pledge to donate $10,000 to a charity of Oprah or Whoopi’s choice.
