A docket hearing is set for 8:30 a.m., August 8, at which time a trial date will be set. However, O’Mara entered two filings before yesterday’s arraignment – one waved Zimmerman’s right to a speedy trial, he’s guaranteed by law a trial within 175 days of arrest, the second filing indicated that O’Mara needed more time to prepare for trial.
There’s no word on when the trial may actually begin. Several credible outlets are reporting that proceedings may begin, at the earliest, by October.
Zimmerman, who currently out on a $150,000 bond, is being kept in a undisclosed location. During his time away he must refrain from drinking alcohol, using drugs or firearms and he must observe a curfew of 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. He’s also not allowed to possess a gun.
