It was announced earlier today that Corey will be holding a special press conference at 6 p.m. in Jacksonville, Florida to make the statement. This comes just one day after Zimmerman’s attorneys quit after losing contact with their client.
It’s unclear what specific charges may be filed against the shooter.
Sybrina Fulton, Trayvon’s mother, tweeted, “We’re on pins and needles waiting for Ms. Corey’s decision but we’re praying that justice will prevail. He sits high and looks low #GODisincontrol.” Both Fulton and Tracy Martin, Trayvon’s father, are expected to hold their own press conference just one hour after Corey announces her decision.
Zimmerman’s whereabouts are yet to be known. However, authorities are confident that he is not a flight risk despite confirmation that he is no longer in the state of Florida.
On Monday, Corey announced she would not convene a grand jury, indicating that Zimmerman won’t be charged with first degree murder. However, manslaughter and assault are an option, according to the Huffington Post.
