During his bond hearing last week Zimmerman failed to disclose to the court that he raised $204,000 through his website. He was granted a $150,000 bond, 10 percent of which was needed to release him from the Florida jail where he was held while awaiting trial for second-degree murder charges in the death of Trayvon Martin.
The Martin family’s attorney, Benjamin Crump, believes Zimmerman’s “oversight” is indicative of a much larger problem — the validity of his testimony.
“If his testimony at the bond hearing is any indication of what is to come, then the lying has already begun,” Crump said.
Asked to increase Zimmerman’s bond, Judge Kenneth Lester Jr — who ruled on Zimmerman’s bond hearing — said he is “not going to make a snap decision” because he is unsure whether he has the authority to decide on how the donation money can be used.
It is unclear if Zimmerman’s bond will increase.
