Eddie Murphy’s big screen hiatus is finally coming to an end. The actor and comedian is making his return in Mr. Church, a story about an African-American cook and his friendship with a young white girl and her dying mother. Murphy replaced Samuel L. Jackson, who was originally attached to the film. Bruce Beresford of Driving Miss Daisy fame directed the film.
According to Shadow and Act, the movie made its debut earlier this year during the Tribeca Film Festival. You can catch a glimpse of Murphy’s long-awaited comeback in the official trailer for Mr. Church, which was released prior to the festival. The film is set to hit theaters September 16.
