Members of the Sistahs on the Reading Edge book club—which includes 10 African-American women who were kicked off the Napa Valley Wine Train for allegedly being too loud—have reached a settlement, reports The Mercury News.
The group filed a racial discrimination lawsuit in October seeking $11 million in damages for the August 22 incident in which employees accused the women, whose ages range from 39-85, of being too loud. They were late removed from the train.
According to a statement released by their lawyer, Waukeen McCoy, the two sides settled for an undisclosed amount.
“The parties are both very excited about resolving the case and moving forward,” McCoy said. McCoy tells The Mercury News that he “hopes that businesses such as the wine train develop sensitivity and diversity to their programs so that this never happens again.”
