Two aspiring filmmakers are determined to bring the lives of Haitian-Americans to the public eye.
Deadline reports that Haitian-Americans Joshua Jean-Baptiste and Edson Jean have won a $25,000 #GetTheGreenlight award from Project Greenlight, the HBO incubator that mentors up-and-coming directors, to produce their web series, #Josh.
“This entire #GetTheGreenlight process has been a roller coaster of emotions, or as our fellow Haitians would say: mezami!” the duo told Deadline.
The show will follow a digitally dependent millennial and his free-spirited cousin as they navigate dating in the unglamorous side of Miami.
“After receiving an unprecedented amount of support from our community, we are honored to share a story set in Miami that isn’t coated in glitz or glamour,” they said.
