Bad news for 80s TV fans: If you were hoping for a real-life Brenda/Theo wedding sometime in the future, it looks like that will be a no go.
Lovebirds Regina King and Malcolm Jamal Warner have reportedly called it quits. (Gasp!) The pair, who began their friendship back during their days as 80s TV child stars (he was on The Cosby Show and she starred on 227), became an item five years ago.
Engagement rumors circled the gossip circuits in late 2011, though the couple denied that they were headed down the aisle. US Weekly reports that Warner has asked King and her son, with ex-husband Ian Alexander Jr., to move out of the home they shared. Sources close to King say she’s not taking the news well.
Neither King nor Warner, both 42, have commented on the breakup thus far. In her ESSENCE cover story in January 2011, King gushed over her then three-year relationship with Warner. “Malcolm and I have a lot in common,” she said. “We’ve both been child actors and were also blessed to be raised by incredible mothers who instilled good values in us.”
The Southland actress was married to Ian Alexander Sr. for 10 years before divorcing him in 2007. Had they tied the knot, it would have been Warner’s first marriage.
Someone say it ain’t so.
