PHOTOS: Stars Attend Heavy D’s Funeral
On November 8th, D. returned home from a shopping trip and collapsed in the stairwell of his condo. He suffered trouble breathing and was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A., where he later died.
Craig Harvey, Chief of the Los Angeles Coroner’s Department, reported that the rapper also died of heart disease and a deep leg vein thrombosis. His report also says that Heavy D’s blood clot most likely developed during a long plane ride.

Grace Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, New York was the site of his homegoing service. Friends Usher, Will Smith, Diddy and more attended the service to pay their respects. Even President Obama sent a note to be read aloud to Heavy D’s 11-year-old daughter.
