NASA mathematician Katherine Johnson will receive a bronze statue from her alma mater, West Virginia State University. Johnson, whose calculations bested computers and helped launch the first U.S. space flights, will also have a $100,000 scholarship awarded to underrepresented students majoring in STEM fields in her honor. Donald Glover is on a shortlist of actors being considered to play Willy Wonka. Warner Bros. has commissioned a new film about the fictional character most famously portrayed by Gene Wilder. Lee Daniels is reportedly in talks to direct a Billie Holiday biopic. Sources say the Empire director is eyeing R&B soul singer Andra Day to star as the legendary musician role alongside LaKeith Stanfield. Tyrese is seeking primary custody of his daughter Shayla so that she can live with him in Atlanta. According to court documents, the 39-year-old actor wants to remove the constant interference in his “relationship and custodial time” with Shayla from his ex-wife. He also claims his daughter will enjoy a quieter life away from the paparazzi in Los Angeles. A judge has yet to rule on the request. (People)
President Trump will host a dinner at the White House on Wednesday (June 6) to celebrate the Muslim Holy Month, Ramadan.
