Every season, frugal fashionistas wait patiently to find out what luxury fashion brand will create a diffusion line for H&M. This fall it’s Lanvin, one of Paris’ oldest fashion houses, NYTimes.com reports. “I have said in the past that I would never do a mass-market collection,” Alber Elbaz, the brand’s creative director, said, “But what intrigued me was the idea of H&M going luxury rather than Lanvin going public.” Perhaps it’s that the fashion industry is still feeling the effects of a shrunken global economy that made a mass-market line appealing to Elbaz. Who knows? Either way, we can’t wait to see the collection, which we can preview on November 2 in a film to be shown on hm.com. The clothes hit H&M stores on November 23. H&M is a leader in designer collaborations. Previous collections, created by Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Matthew Williamson and others, have caused shopping frenzies in seasons past. We’re excited to see how Lanvin stacks up.
