H&M’s designer collaborations have become a highly anticipated annual event. And after last year’s uber successful Balmain collection, we couldn’t wait to see who the fast fashion retailer would recruit next.

Today, Vogue announced that H&M’s next designer capsule collection will be with Kenzo!
Kenzo was once a latent brand, but experienced a renaissance at the hands of design twosome Carol Lim and Humberto Leon. Five years later, they have successfully honed a cultish following among young, fashion insiders. The upcoming collaboration will introduce them to a much wider market.
So why Kenzo and why now? H&M’s head of design Ann-Sofie Johansson says H&M has had eyes on the brand for a few years and it seemed like the right time. They like to pick designers who will expose customers to very different aesthetics and Kenzo and Balmain couldn’t be farther apart.

“Balmain was glamorous and sexy, and this is vibrant, young, and fun,” she said.
As for the Kenzo designers, they’re fans of H&M’s past designer capsules and feel like the retailer celebrates the brands they work with. They still own pieces from Karl Lagerfeld’s residency!
No specifics on the looks have been revealed yet, but you can definitely expect Kenzo’s brilliant prints and colorways, and signature embroidery and embellishments.
