Howard University is under heightened security after an anonymous individual posted a message on Twitter and online forums threatening to kill the school’s Black students.
According to multiple reports, the user claims to have left the University of Missouri, the site of recent racially charged protests, because he “just couldn’t put up with it anymore.” He claims to have traveled to Washington D.C., and has threatened to take out any “n—–s left at Howard University after 10” on Thursday, though it’s unclear whether he meant a.m. or p.m.

“Sure, the po po will take me down, but I’ll go out a hero knowing I made the world better,” he wrote.
Earlier today, Howard President Wayne Frederick alerted the students of the threat and said that the campus has taken the proper precautionary measures. The FBI is searching for a suspect.
“This is an ongoing investigation,” Frederick wrote. “However, in an abundance of caution, the university has increased security on campus and at metro stations.”
Classes on campus are cancelled at professors’ discretion.
