After a prolonged and public break-up with her rapper hubby Wiz Khalifa, Amber Rose wrote a heartfelt Instagram post last night saying that despite everything, Wiz is still the one for her. “My #ManCrushEveryday you know what it is…” she wrote. “We went wrong somewhere and even if we never ever get back together (Even tho I pray, dream and hope we do) he will forever be the love of my life.” No word from Wiz, but Amber, we hope that you find happiness—either with or without him—soon!
It was the breakup heard ’round the world. After 22 years together, high school sweethearts Robin Thicke and Paula Patton called it quits last year. But Robin wasn’t going to give up without a fight. He wrote an album simply titled Paula featuring songs with just him begging, err, singing for her to come back. But to no avail. The couple’s divorce was finalized last month, and Paula confessed to Meredith Vieira earlier this week that being single after so many years makes her feel “like a real woman now.”
The rapper has had a number of high-profile relationships, but one connection he’s not giving up on anytime soon is his bond with tennis queen Serena Williams. Though the two haven’t dated in years, they remain close friends (Serena celebrated with him after his Oscar win a couple of months ago). And just last year, Common opened up to Rickey Smiley and praised his ex. “When we broke up, it was one of those things where we just weren’t ready at that time,” he said of Serena. “I probably would be at a new place. And it might work out. I do got love for Serena. I ain’t goon’ lie. I got love for her.” Awww.
Eric Benet never tried to hide his infidelity during his four-year marriage to Halle Berry. However, that doesn’t mean that he was happy to see the matrimonial walls come crashing down. “I wanted to save my marriage and do anything necessary to do that,” he told People magazine in 2005 shortly after his stint in rehab for an alleged sex addiction. “I was very much in love with my wife. But I personally could only contribute 50 percent. Ultimately what was the end of us was she just couldn’t trust me anymore. You can’t blame her for that.”
It wasn’t in the cards for 90s couple Mary J. Blige and her R&B singing boo K-Ci of Jodeci. The two broke it off a long time ago after 12 years of dating and rumors of physical abuse. Though Mary is now happily married to Kendu Isaacs, K-Ci recently admitted on The Breakfast Club that he did some things wrong in their relationship. “I was in love with Mary,” he told the morning show hosts. “She never did anything wrong to me. She always gave me my props.”
