Nostalgia for ‘90s R&B is alive and well.
“It’s timeless,” said RL, lead singer of ‘90s group NEXT. He continued, “We’re blessed to have a nice catalog of records that we’ll be able to sing forever.”
Clearly, the era’s music is classic. Nearly two decades after artists RL from NEXT, Richard Wingo from Jagged Edge and Chauncey from Blackstreet were introduced to the world the Walmart stage at the ESSENCE Festival was akin to a karaoke night.
Festival-goers were singing along during the ‘90s-centric montage. Intently.
“The classics never cease to amaze the fans,” said ‘No Diggity’ singer, Chauncey.
From the era’s sultry baby making music to the body bumping bangers, we’d have to agree.
