Issa Rae’s latest series will be coming to ABC thanks in large part to director and producer Shonda Rhimes. According to Deadline, Rhimes has helped to green light Rae’s new series, I Hate LA Dudes, through her Shondaland production company.
Rae, who is best known as the creator of the viral web series The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl, will be writing and co-executive producing on the new half-hour comedy. I Hate LA Dudes is set to follow the life of a single female journalist who is new to Los Angeles and exploring the dating scene.
This is not the first time Rhimes and her partner Betsy Beers have brought original content to ABC. Shondaland is also responsible for shows such as Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice and Scandal.
Along with I Hate LA Dudes, Rhimes also sold John Hoffman’s dramedy The Mix to the network.
