Most of us have dreamed about being able to buy a house for our parents or do some other grand gesture to show appreciation for all that they’ve done, but one very young entrepreneur is taking steps to turn that dream into a reality.
8-year-old Jalen Bailey is on a mission to show the world that you’re never too young to reach your goals with a little motivation and a lot of hard work. The ambitious young business owner took a cue from his mother, who is also an entrepreneur, when he started his own baking company right out of their kitchen and began selling delicious baked goods made completely from scratch by Jalen himself.

In addition to raising money for college and to help his local community, Jalen told ABC News that he hopes to one day buy a bigger home for he and his mom. “I wanted to save up a lot of money to get a house,” he told the news outlet. “I just want one that me and my mom can be happy in.”
His mother Sharhonda Mahan says Jalen’s business has done very well so far and also revealed that he recently baked for his first event. “He’s very excited,” Mahan said. “It seems like the more orders he gets, the more excited he gets and the more serious he gets about his business.” The single mom has since started a GoFundMe page for Jalen’s Bakery to help him expand his business to be able to ship to customers nationwide.
