Ray Rice’s wife, Janay Rice, posted an emotional message on Instagram Tuesday morning in response to her husband’s indefinite suspension from the NFL on Monday.
In her message, Rice compared her life to “a horrible nightmare” after yesterday’s events and blamed the media for causing pain to her family and making them relive a painful moment in their lives that they “regret every day.”
The Baltimore Sun verified that Rice’s message was posted by her, in full, for the public to see.
Read Rice’s full statement reads as follows:
“I woke up this morning feeling like I had a horrible nightmare, feeling like I’m mourning the death of my closest friend. But to have to accept the fact that it’s [sic] reality is a nightmare in itself. No one knows the pain that the media & unwanted options [sic] from the public has caused my family. To make us relive a moment in our lives that we regret every day is a horrific [sic]. To take something away from the man I love that he has worked his ass of for all his life just to gain ratings is horrific. THIS IS OUR LIFE! What don’t you all get. If your intentions were to hurt us, embarrass us, make us feel alone, take all happiness away, you’ve succeeded on so many levels. Just know we will continue to grow & show the world what real love is! Ravensnation we love you!”

Her comments come a day after her husband was released from the Baltimore Ravens and suspended from the league after TMZ released an explicit video of him punching her in an elevator at Atlantic City’s Revel Casino earlier this year.
Rice married the NFL runningback, her high-school sweetheart, in March, a day after he was indicted by a grand jury on third-degree aggravated assault for the incident, which took place in February.
They have one child, a daughter, together.
