Songstress Janelle Monáe is gearing up for the fall release of her forthcoming sophomore album The Electric Lady, and she recently revealed that fans can look forward to a special guest appearance by Prince.
During an interview with Billboard, the “Q.U.E.E.N.” singer said she and the music legend are “great friends” and spent some creative time in the studio together.
“It’s a beautiful thing to have a friend — someone who cares about your career, and wants to see you go far and to push boundaries and shake up the world — give whatever they possibly can to the cause,” she said.
Although Monáe is keeping the song’s title under wraps, she did reveal that she had a opportunity to produce the record.
“I had a chance to produce an icon,” she said. “It’s not every day that he collaborates. I’m honored and humbled that he trusted me. He is forever my friend, and I am forever indebted. I can’t say too much else about it.”
The Electric Lady, which hits stores in September, also includes a collaboration by R&B hitmaker Miguel.
