Paris, Michael Jackson’s 13-year-old daughter, recently landed her first film role and while Janet is standing by her niece’s side, she’s also concerned that Paris is too young for the spotlight.
“I’m happy for her because this is what she wants to do. I told [Paris], ‘You should really take your time to enjoy your youth to the fullest. You lose so much of your childhood in this industry,'” Janet told ABC’s “Nightline.”

Janet also divulged a few never-before-shared moments from her childhood role in “Good Times.” These memories, Janet says, left her emotionally scarred for years.
“I was 10 years old when I did ‘Good Times.’ On the very first show the wardrobe woman said, ‘Okay we’re going to bind your chest because your chest is too big.’ I was developing at a very young age,” Janet said, adding that she was also told to lose weight.

It’s these kinds of memories that have caused Janet to have reservations about Paris wanting to pursue an acting career in her early teens.
“I’m excited for her, but it worries me a little bit. Yeah, I wish that she would maybe wait,” said Janet.
Do you think Paris should follow in her family’s famous footsteps at such a young age?
