Jason Kidd is having a bumpy start in New York.
Just three-days after signing with the New York Knicks, Jason Kidd was arrested for driving while intoxicated in the Hamptons. The point guard crashed his 2010 Cadillac Escalade into a telephone pole after leaving a charity benefit early Sunday morning, according to the New York Daily News.
Luckily, Kidd was the only passenger in the vehicle. He suffered from minor injuries and was taken to the Southhampton Hospital for treatment, according to police. After being released from the hospital, he was hauled off to the Southhampton Town Justice Court where he was charged with a misdemeanor.
“Jason has pleaded not guilty to a DWI charge and awaits further court proceedings,” said Ed Burke Jr., Kidd’s lawyer.
Kidd led the Dallas Mavericks to a NBA title in 2011. His most recent contract with the Knicks is for three years and $9.5 million.
