Rapper Jay-Z can now add musical composer to his resume.
According to the Huffington Post, the media mogul has teamed up with director Baz Luhrmann to produce an original score for the film adaptation of the classic novel The Great Gatsby.
Jeymes Samuel of The Bullitts broke the news yesterday after he tweeted his excitement about Jay-Z’s involvement in the project.
“Jay-Z and myself have been working tirelessly on the score for the upcoming #CLASSIC The Great Gatsby! It is too DOPE for words,” he wrote.
The 43-year-old adds an unconventional combination of rap music to one of America’s most classic stories. His Watch the Throne track, “No Church In The Wild” — which scored the rapper four of his six Grammy nominations — is also featured in the film’s trailer.
The Great Gatsby, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire, is scheduled to hit theaters on May 10.
