With rappers penning autobiographies and Harvard professors making hip hop anthologies, it's not unlikely that you'd find a book by your favorite rapper in the aisles of a public library these days. But what about your favorite MC?
With rappers penning autobiographies and Harvard professors making hip hop anthologies, it’s not unlikely that you’d find a book by your favorite rapper in the aisles of a public library these days. But what about your favorite MC? Today rapper-turned-author Jay-Z will sit down with activist, author and professor Cornel West at the New York Public Library to discuss his new book, “Decoded.” Jay will dish on his experiences as a hustler from Brooklyn’s Marcy Projects and how he infiltrated the world of big business without losing his sense of self. He and West will also discuss Jay’s interest in politics — a system he never trusted — and how his work is influenced by visual art and poetry. Seeing as how the event is already sold out, you can tune in on FORA.tv, to watch Jay and West talk shop. What would you ask Jay-Z if you were there?
