JAY-Z is working on a new Prince album for Tidal. In 2016, Prince’s estate filed a lawsuit against Tidal over exclusive streaming rights, now the estate and streaming service are teaming up for a new album. The full-length album will feature previously unreleased music from Prince’s vault and is expected to be released in 2019, streaming exclusively on Tidal for two weeks. (Pitchfork)
Oprah Winfrey’s bestie Gayle King says the media mogul enjoys a toke or two. King recently told Ellen DeGeneres that Oprah has “smoked a little marijuana” but “it’s not something that happens on a regular.” (The Cut)
Over the weekend, rapper Young M.A. hosted a special Mother’s Day brunch for mom’s affected by gun violence. The event is the first from her Kweens Foundation charity, which is designed to support mom’s affected by violent tragedies. (Vibe)

The Southerners on New Ground organization (SONG) and the National Bail Out Collective recently joined forces to raise bail to get incarcerated mom’s out of jail in time for Mother’s Day. SONG’s Co-Director Mary Hooks told reporters, “The bail reform ordinance is an important first step towards desperately needed bail reforms in Atlanta, but the work of bail reform and breaking the cycle of profiling, targeting and caging of Atlanta’s poor and black communities requires many additional policy changes and until that happens, we must continue to free ourselves.” SONG also helps to bail out fathers in time for Father’s Day. A white Wisconsin officer was caught on camera punching a Black teen in the face multiple times. The video shows a Wauwatosa cop at Mayfair Mall throwing several punches at the teen’s face as he is restrained by a mall security guard. The Wauwatosa police department says they were responding to a call about disorderly behavior. Wauwatosa Police Chief Barry Weber said in a statement, “I can assure you that we take all situations seriously when they involve a use of force by our officers. We thoroughly review all incidents in which force is used by an officer and will do so in this incident, as well.” (The Root)
RuPaul is set to star in a new Netflix comedy. The series, AJ and the Queen, will see RuPaul playing Ruby Red, a drag queen who travels from club to club across America with her sidekick AJ, a scrappy 11-year-old orphan. (Variety)
Video taken outside of a Century 21 department store in New York shows a security guard choking and punching a suspected shoplifter. Bystanders say 19-year-old Victor Roberson was compliant with the security guard until he began to get violent. Roberson can be heard telling the guard, “What are you doing?
