Jazz keyboardist George Duke passed away in Los Angeles yesterday, confirms his publicist. He was 67.
Duke’s death comes a year after his wife of 30 years, Corine Duke, succumbed to cancer. He dedicated his latest album Dreamweaver, released last month, to her memory.
The beloved genre-hopping musician’s career spanned over four decades and 30 albums. He has collaborated with the likes of Frank Zappa, Gladys Knight, Anita Baker and Jill Scott.
“Please keep his sons, Rasheed and John, in your prayers,” said former Supremes singer Sherri Payne in a statement.
Duke’s cause of death has not yet been released.
Our prayers go out to the Duke family.
