As the school year starts up for millions of students across the nation, a little seperation anxiety is expected from parents—especially when they’re sending off their little preschoolers! Stars included.
Superstar Jennifer Hudson’s son, David, 4, started preschool this week and she shared pictures of the big moment on Instagram.
She told People at the MTV Video Music Awards, “Oh my God, he’s getting ready to start school. I’m going to miss him because he won’t be able to travel with me. In his mind, anything previous was yesterday. So he was like ‘Mommy, you took me with you yesterday,’ and I’m like, ‘I know, but you got to get ready for school now.’ So that’s the downside. He’s bound to home now.”
Although she may miss some moments now that she’s promoting several movies, including Winnie Mandela which opens this Friday, and working on a new album, Hudson says she encourages little David to be himself always. “I like watching him come into his own,” she said. “I don’t want to tell him what he can and can’t be.”
