Jussie Smollet isn’t sleeping during the midseason television slump.
The Empire actor has been tapped to host the eighth season of the WORLD Channel’s AfroPoP: The Ultimate Cultural Exchange, a series dedicated to bringing films and documentaries of the African diaspora to life, reports IndieWire. Previous hosts include Gabourey Sidibe, Anika Noni Rose, Idris Elba and Anthony Mackie.

“AfroPoP’s engaging, real-life tales add to the collection of rich Black stories that audiences are clamoring for, and I wanted to be a part of bringing them to national attention,” Smollett said in a statement.
