After Comedy Central’s controversial cartoon series “South Park” depicted Kanye West as an egomaniacal gay fish, the “Heartless” vocoder-induced rapper/singer took the remarks with grace and a tinge of self-depracating humor, sharing his innermost feelings on his blog and confessing that the skit was “pretty funny.”
Known for throwing public tantrums, the Chi-town lyricist has never had any qualms voicing his displeasure about anything he thought was a slight toward his talent and notoriety, including not winning an MTV Award a few years ago. Nowadays, the platinum-selling rapper has finally taken an introspection and has shown some humility by expressing his innermost thoughts to his fans.
“Having the crazy ego is played out at this point in my life and career. I used to use it to build up my esteem when nobody believed in me. Now that people do believe and support my music and products, the best response is thank you instead of “I told you so!” When you meet Lil Wayne in person he’s the nicest guy. I just wanna be a doper person which starts with me not always telling people how dope I think I am. I need to just get past myself, drop the bravado..everyting is not that serious.”
Still, West admits: “It hurts my feelings, but what can you expect from ‘South Park!'” West admirers comforted him with words of wisdom, commenting that he should “take it with a pinch of salt.” Maybe some people do change, at least Kanye West gets a thumbs-up for trying to shed some of his baggage.—JW
