The ESSENCE Music Festival headliner recently worked out a long-term agreement for his independent record label G.O.O.D. Music with Island Def Jam Music Group. This move will help to solidify Kanye’s label as a growing force in the industry.
“G.O.O.D. Music is an exciting new chapter in the long and successful association of Kanye West and Island Def Jam,” said Barry Weiss, Chairman and CEO of Universal Motown Republic Group and Island Def Jam Music Group. “There is no one who has made a greater impression on the game than Kanye.”
Big Sean, who performed at the 2011 BET Awards, is the first artist to be signed under the partnership, with his debut album “Finally Famous” being released today.
