Kelis is living the dream.
The singer recently put her Glendale, CA home on the market for $1.885 million after buying it in 2012. She talked about the sale of the 3,850-square-foot residence with Architectural Digest.
“The architecture inside the house was amazing, and it had a very dramatic, old Hollywood feel,” the “Milkshake” singer told the publication. “The backyard was so glamorous, and really, for me, that felt great. It was so nice for entertaining, and I pictured all the things I could do back there.”
In lieu of her five-bedroom property with a heated saltwater pool, two fireplaces, and two kitchens, Kelis is moving her two boys to a farm.
Yes, you read that right, a farm.
“Now that I’ve got these two boys, I want to control a little bit more how we eat,” the 38-year-old said. “We’re buying a farm, so that’s why we’re moving: so that we can grow everything and sustain everything that way.”
Kelis graduated from Le Cordon Bleu in 2009 and has written a cookbook, developed a line of sauces, had two specials on the Cooking Channel and hosted a cooking web series on YouTube. In a 2016 interview with The Guardian, she talked about her desire to own a farm.
“I want a farm where I can grow my own ingredients and have control over the whole process,” she said. “And yeah, for sure, one day I’d love to have my own restaurant.”
