With the release of her much-anticipated new album ‘Here I Am’ and her hit single “Motivation” still holding strong on the charts, Kelly’s career has reached new heights this year. But things weren’t always looking up for Kelly.
“I felt like, ‘Oh my God, what have I done?’ I stayed in the house for two days. I was sad. It was like a funeral,” Kelly revealed. “I had to deaden that situation in order to start fresh. That’s a very long time to have the same manager and the same label.”

Kelly still holds firm that their split was both amicable and cordial, saying she has respect for her former mentor.
“This man made me a millionaire at the age of 18,” Kelly tells VIBE. “[He] taught us how to make money in the industry. I can never, ever forget that.”
It’s never a good idea to bite the hand that feeds (or fed) you. Kudos to Kelly for taking the high road, always.
