Kelly Rowland is all about expressing her feelings in song lyrics—especially about a breakup.
The singer opened up about “Gone,” a breakup song on her upcoming album, Talk a Good Game (June 18). According to Entertainment Weekly, Rowland says the Joni Mitchell “Big Yellow Taxi” sampled track was inspired by Taylor Swift. “We were talking about several songs, because I love the fact that a song can make you feel so empowered,” said Rowland.
The song featuring Wiz Khalifa has some of Rowland’s favorite lyrics. “Your dinner’s waiting down the street/ You can have it your way,” sings Rowland. “I remember being in that exact same head space after getting over a breakup, and walking in and him thinking that I was going to make his dinner,” explained Rowland. “I was like, ‘Oh no, you don’t get that anymore.'”
Rowland recently made headlines when she released “Dirty Laundry,” which detailed the ins and outs of her abusive ex-boyfriend and her friendship with Beyoncé.
Things seem to be on the rise for the sultry singer. Rowland just inked a mega deal, reportedly worth $1 million, to become the newest judge on X Factor USA.
