Grammy-winning songstress Kelly Rowland has parted ways with her longtime manager, Mathew Knowles, the father of megastar Beyoncé. The Destiny’s Child founding member has seen major solo success in Europe, but wants to be a bigger star in the U.S. In a joint statement, Knowles and Rowland declared the split was amicable.
“Mathew Knowles has been a positive influence in my career. I have had great success under his guidance—both as a member of Destiny’s Child and with my solo projects,” stated Rowland.
In 2007, Rowland released “Ms. Kelly” which sold less than 500,000 copies. Industry insiders believe the album was continually pushed back to make room for Beyoncé’s chart-topping “B’day” album. —QS and CJ
