Kelly Rowland knows our airwaves are in dire need of a girl group.
The former Destiny’s Child member hopes to assemble the next female ensemble on the reality competition, Chasing Destiny, reports Billboard.
Rowland said that the concept of a successful girl group is much needed for audiences today.
The Greatest Girl Groups of All Time
“One of the things I loved about being in Destiny’s Child was little girls seeing us travel together, sing together, talk together, hang out together,” she said. “It shows camaraderie, friendship and to me that’s missing. This is such a selfie-absorbed society. We need to see more of girls getting along. It’s not just about being an individual. You need friends to depend on. And I need these young ladies to know that still exists. And if they can see that in a group…that is the ultimate goal.”
Chasing Destiny was co-created by Rowland and creative director/choreographer Frank Gatson who wanted to bring the project to life, by any means necessary.

“We were going to do this whether TV cameras were with us or not,” said Rowland.
Gatson has worked with both Kelly and Beyoncé, Michael Jackson, Usher, and Jennifer Lopez.
Chasing Destiny will air 10-hour long episodes on beginning BET April 5 at 10 p.m.
