Late Monday afternoon, Kevin Hart narrowly avoided jail time after pleading no contest to one count of driving under the influence. In exchange for time in the slammer, Hart received three years probation.
By accepting the plea deal, the second count was dropped, reports CBS.
Hart, whose recent film Let Me Explain rocked the box office, was also fined $390. The comedian was also ordered to undergo and complete three months of alcohol education classes.
In April of this year, Hart was pulled over after driving erratically at 90 m.p.h. on California’s 101 Highway. Hart failed a sobriety test—his Blood Alcohol Level was more than legal limit, TMZ points out.
Immediately following his fiasco, Hart tweeted that drinking and driving was “no laughing matter.”
“People have lost lives because of stupid sh*t,” shared Hart via Twitter. “This is a wake-up call for me, have to be smarter and last night I wasn’t. Everything happens for a reason.”
