This news may be a bit anti climatic for some, but the knife reportedly found on the property of O.J. Simpson’s former home has officially been ruled out as the potential murder weapon in the 1994 murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman.
Knife Reportedly Found At O.J. Simpson’s Former Estate Is Being Tested for DNA
“We don’t know if it’s a hoax, but there’s no nexus to the murders, based on the testing we’ve done,” LAPD Captain Andrew Neiman said in an interview. According to the Huffington Post, police have declined to elaborate on the timeline of when the knife was recovered and turned over to investigators. Neiman’s attitude towards the matter is, “the whole story is bogus from the get-go.”

The knife was said to have been discovered years ago by a construction worker who handed it over to an off-duty LAPD officer. Instead of turning the knife in, the officer kept it at his residence for several years. When this officer retired, he contacted the department’s Robbery Homicide Division, not to turn the knife in, but to obtain the departmental record number for the O.J. case, because he wanted to have it engraved on a frame in which he planned to place the knife.
And to add to the drama, the knife surfaced as the hit series dramatizing the “trial of the century,” The People v. O.J. Simpson, is airing.
