After weeks of speculation about his condition, Lamar Odom finally spoke out early Wednesday morning via Twitter.
Odom’s very direct message did two things: target his father, Joe Odom, who also struggled with drug addiction, and thank the Kardashians for being his support system.
“I have let this man and many others get away with a lot of sh–. He wasn’t there 2 raise me. He was absent ALL of my life due to his own demons. My mother and grandmother raised me. Queens raised me,” tweeted Odom before publicly thanking the Kardashians for their support. “For the first time since they left, came a blessing of a FAMILY that I married into,” he said.
Odom’s rocky relationship with his father made headlines over the years and was captured on reality TV. But the NBA free agent calls his father his “downfall.” “His own demons may be the ONLY thing he gave 2 me,” he shared.
Joe publicly spoke about his son’s recent actions and blamed the Kardashians for his son’s troubles.
Odom responded to his father’s comments by saying, “He [is] disrespecting the ONLY FAMILY that has loved me without expecting anything in return. They are the ONLY ones that have been here consistently 4 me during this dark time. Only person 2 blame is myself. Say what you want about me but leave the ones who have done nothing but protect and love me out of this!”
Over the past several weeks, mounting speculation has been building about Odom’s marriage to Khloe Kardashian. In early September, Odom checked himself into rehab and released himself the following day. In the week prior, he was arrested for driving under the influence.
