To say that Larry Wilmore ruffled some racial feathers during his White House Correspondents Dinner speech is an understatement, but President Obama is shrugging it off.
ICYMI, Wilmore ended his monologue at the Saturday night ceremony by saying, “So, Mr. President, if I’m going to keep it 100: Yo, Barry, you did it, my n—a. You did it.”

But despite the backlash, President Obama is unbothered. NBC News reports that yesterday afternoon, White House press secretary Josh Earnest said that President Obama didn’t mind the joke and “appreciated the sentiments.”

“I’m confident that Mr. Wilmore used the word by design,” Earnest said in a statement. “He was seeking to be provocative. But I think any reading of his comments makes it clear he was not using the president as a butt of a joke.”
