London Breed has become the first African-American woman to be elected San Francisco mayor. Beating out State Senator Mark Leno, who was poised to become the first openly gay mayor of the city, Breed says she’s most proud of what this win means for the youth. “No matter where you come from, no matter what you decide to do in life, you can do anything you want to do,” she said. “Never let your circumstances determine your outcome in life.” The former executive director of the African American Art & Culture Complex has vowed to rid the city of homeless tent camps and build affordable housing. A man has been charged with threatening to murder senators Kamala Harris and Bernie Sanders. Though the alleged threats were made in March on the day of the “March For Our Lives” gun rally, Nicholas Bukoski was taken into federal custody last week on a five-count grand jury indictment: two counts of threatening to assault or murder members of Congress and three counts of transmitting threats via interstate commerce. An 8-year-old St. Louis boy protected his younger siblings as he watched his mother, 28-year-old Porsha Owens, get shot to death. Owens was killed while she was taking her kids to daycare. The gunman reportedly asked for Owens’ car keys before killing her but fled when the car wouldn’t start. The young boy told his siblings, ages 3 and 5, to hide under the car, flagged down a police officer then stayed by his mother’s side under an ambulance arrived. (CBS News)
Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes has revealed her husband, Gregg Leakes, has been diagnosed with cancer.
