A Dallas woman shot a man in the face while he was attempting to steal her car with her two children inside. Michelle Booker-Hicks was at a local station when she noticed the assailant, identified as Ricky Wright, was driving away. “I had to do what I had to do to defend what was mine, which are my kids,” she said. Wright has been charged with two counts of unlawful restraint and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. (People)
Amid months of scandal and probes into his ethical misconduct, Environmental Protection Agency administrator Scott Pruitt has resigned. In a letter shared by President Trump via Twitter, Pruitt cites “unrelenting attacks” on him and his family that have taken a “sizeable toll” on him as his reason for stepping down. (CNN)

Former Teen Vogue editor Elaine Welteroth has had an awful run-in with an Uber driver. According to her account of the incident on her Instagram, the Uber driver kicked her out of the car from her drop-off location then proceeded to call police and tell them that she hit him. “Too many of us deal with this kind of mistreatment daily and we just keep it moving,” she wrote.
