Lupita Nyongo set the red carpet ablaze at the 87th annual Academy Awards when she rocked a 6,000 pearl Francisco Costa for Calvin Klein gown. But on Wednesday, the stunning gown (rumored to be worth $150,000) was reported stolen from her room in the London Hotel in Hollywood.
But, things turned around on Friday when the L.A. Sheriff’s Department got a tip and found the dress in a bag in an abandoned bathroom on the second floor of the same hotel. Apparently, the thieves returned the gown after realizing it was made of costume pearls.
“A guy called us at around 2:30 p.m. Friday and said he had taken the dress from Lupita’s hotel room after he noticed the door was ajar,” TMZ reports.
“I’m happy that it has been potentially recovered. It is a timeless and priceless piece of art,” said Nyong’o in a statement after the garment had been reportedly returned.
