Mary J. Blige continues to have money troubles.
The singer was recently hit with a $900,000 tax lien from the State of New Jersey, according to TMZ. It’s the latest in a string of money issues plaguing the veteran singer.
In early February, Blige was sued by Bank of America for allegedly defaulting on a $500,000 loan. She reportedly took out the loan in 2005 and made steady payments through June 2011. She now owes more than $511,000.
In November, the singer and her husband, Martin Kendu, were the target of a lawsuit filed by Signature Bank of New York Supreme Court for allegedly defaulting on a $2.2 million loan. The couple apparently took out that loan in October 2011 and began defaulting on it in July of 2012, Reuters reports.
In the spring of 2012, Blige’s notable charity Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now Inc., which she runs with Steve Stoute, was accused of mishandling funds. TD Bank filed a $250,000 lawsuit against the foundation. FFAWN later released a statement saying, “FFAWN is working as quickly as possible with a new team of experts that includes a philanthropic consulting firm, a non-profit law firm, and a forensic accountant. Their goal is to get the Foundation back on track, rectifying outstanding issues, and make good on all of FFAWN’s obligations.”
There’s no word on how Blige plans to handle her newest financial woe.
