Fans of Alicia Keys and Maxwell’s sultry song, “Fire We Make,” will be pleased to know the duo’s heading back into the studio.
Maxwell recently revealed that he and Keys will be putting out a duet album in the near future. “We’re definitely working on an EP that’s sort of Marvin Gaye/Tammi Terrell,” said Maxwell to Billboard.
“We got a thing musically,” explained Maxwell. “That’s like my little sister. What’s funny is Swizz [Beatz] is the champion of all of it… She’s someone that I trust. I’m like that, by the way. Most of the people you see working for me are actually with me. And I’m proud to say that I’ve known them 20 years almost.”
Summers, Maxwell’s follow up to 2009’s BLACKsummers’night album, is expected to be released at the end of the summer.
Maxwell performed “Fire We Make,” sans Keys, at the 2013 ESSENCE Festival. Check out a snippet of his performance here.
