The 44-year-old emcee turned voice over talent is set to release her first LP in nearly 12 years.
Legend will be the first album from the emcee since her 2003 release of Da Underground Heat, Vol. 1.
A true pioneer of Hip Hop, Lyte will keep it old school and will release her limited edition album on vinyl only.
Naming a select number of independent record stores worldwide, Lyte will provide autographed copies of the vinyl as a collector’s item for her fans. On her website, the album is said to merge Lyte’s classic sound with the new and edgy music of today.
Considered one of Hip Hop music’s most notable emcees, Lyte gained popularity in the 1980s after becoming the first female Hip Hop artist to release a solo album — Lyte as a Rock. Her critically acclaimed first album positioned Lyte as a top emcee among men and women.
The Legend LP will include features from Common, Faith Evans, Kenny Lattimore, Coko, and Mario. The vinyl will be available in select stores on April 18th.
