It wasn’t always the plan for Michael Jackson’s sons Blanket and Prince to appear in the Jackson family’s upcoming reality show, The Jacksons: The Next Generation.
However, according to TJ Jackson, nephew of the late singer, 13-year-old Blanket and 18-year-old Prince will make an appearance on the show that follows the life of TJ and his brothers.
“[On the show], there’s a camping trip with a variety of cousins,” TJ told the New York Daily News. “And to be flat-out honest, Blanket wasn’t even invited. But when he’s packing his bag and expecting to go, what am I supposed to tell him? ‘You’re not allowed to come because you’re Michael Jackson’s son, and that’s just life?'”

TJ said that he allowed both Blanket and Prince to appear before the cameras. If anything, he says, viewers will see that the children are regular, happy kids.
“We didn’t want to penalize them as Michael Jackson’s kids and say you cannot be on the show because of who you are,” he said.
Catch the premiere of The Jackson: Next Generation on Lifetime this Friday at 10 pm ET.
