That was Michael Phelps right before he won another medal that would eventually catapult him to be the most decorated Olympian of all time. Media and fans speculated for days about what song was motivating the competitive swimmer right before he took to the water, and now we finally know thanks to the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards.
While introducing Future, who he dubbed the most inspiring rapper, Phelps revealed he was listening to the entertainer’s hit song, “Stick Talk.”
“There is no rapper more inspiring than Future,” Phelps said. “Remember in Rio when I made that face that ended up all over the Internet?” I was in the zone with Future’s track ‘Stick Talk’ blaring in my headphones.”
The revelation was followed by an electrifying performance of “F*ck Up Some Commas.”
Now with the rumors aside – it was initially thought that the meme-worthy face was shade towards rival Chad Le Clos — we wonder what else is in the #FutureHive member’s iPod.
